Florida Presbyterian Homes is pleased to announce the hiring of Joe Xanthopoulos as the new Chief Executive Officer. Xanthopoulos brings over 20 years of leadership experience in the field of senior living, ranging from Director of Development to President and Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Xanthopoulos served as an interim leader/consultant with one of the top performing and largest faith-based, not-for-profit senior living systems in the country. He also led an acute care health system with housing and community-based programming for older adults, where he served as Executive Director of Life Plan Communities ranging in size between 150 to nearly 600 older adults.

“Florida Presbyterian Homes has a well-deserved reputation as a premier continuing care retirement community,” said Xanthopoulos. “That reputation has been earned through the years by a most competent and compassionate employee team, a mission and vision-oriented board, centered in good core values, and an engaging and warm resident population who love calling Florida Presbyterian Homes their home.”

Xanthopoulos felt an immediate connection while going through the interview process at FPH. “The people I talked with, the faith values-centered and inclusive mission, the beauty of the campus, a well-deserved stellar clinical care reputation, and the community of Lakeland collectively made this occasion to serve the right opportunity for me and my family,” said Xanthopoulos.

In the role of CEO, Xanthopoulos will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of the entire community, and will serve at the direction of the Board of Directors. He will use his extensive background and skill set to create and maintain positive, interactive and goal-centered management at FPH.

“These are truly exciting times in the field of senior living and for Florida Presbyterian Homes, said Xanthopoulos. “As the needs and ambitions of the generations of people we serve changes, our field, our programs and our people have opportunities to evolve like never before.”

Xanthopoulos is passionate about what he does, knowing that it has meaning and impact on the future of continuing care for older adults. “We are well positioned for a vibrant future and I look forward to working with the board, staff, residents, and our community to define and embrace a vision and plan that aligns with Florida Presbyterian’s mission of providing compassionate, personalized continuing care and service of the highest quality, consistent with our Christian heritage.”

In addition to his work experience, Xanthopoulos’ background includes involvement on numerous parish councils, not-for-profit organizations, state and national associations representing long term care providers, and on Departments on Aging and Health and Human Services task forces. He has long been a legislative advocate for older adults and providers at the local, state and national levels. Outside of work, Xanthopoulos enjoys time with his family, worship activities, sports, walking, cooking and entertaining, reading, and travel.
