Good news! City of Lakeland Planning & Zoning approved our requested changes to the PUD, so we can build residential units where the McArthur Center sits now and build the new community center at the site of the sixplex on the lake.
June 19, 2014 meeting: Today we focused on the right side of the building, which will house the gym, group exercise room, activity studios, micro clinic, showers and lockers. In attendance were representatives from the rehab company that we are currently contracted with, our architect Angela, construction consultant Frank Fralick, several residents and staff members, and a representative from the exercise equipment company HUR. Here is a little information about HUR from their website:
HUR’s products and Senior Exercise Solutions are backed by 20 years of scientific research in collaboration with leading universities and research centers in physiology and biomechanics. The unique Natural Transmission system combined with the air-resistance technology makes HUR suitable for active aging, physical therapy and senior exercise.
- Easy to use – easy on, easy off, safe and non-intimidating machines
- Small footprint and light weight to lower cost
- Several dual function machines for smaller footprint and lower cost
- Balance Testing platforms to implement fall prevention programs
- Isometric Testing to measure muscular strength.
The HUR SmartCard System represents the latest technology in exercise equipment. All HUR machines can be equipped with the SmartCard System for exercise panning, recording and user feedback to lower operating expenses and improve customer experience.
This sounds like the coolest equipment ever! Believe it or not, this pneumatic system is silent.
Space, space, space! The recommended layout from HUR necessitated a few adjustments to allow more space in the gym. Windows, widths, walkways, doorways, storage, extra restrooms and more were discussed. New color drawings will be prepared and distributed at the end of the month. A special Chat with John has been scheduled in the Chapel on Wednesday, July 2 at 1:00 to review the plans with residents.
