Florida Presbyterian Homes has been recognized as a leader in workplace safety by USF SafetyFlorida and OSHA. The Safety and Health Recognition Achievement Program (SHARP) award is given to employers who adhere to exemplary safety and health management practices.
As a SHARP company, Florida Presbyterian Homes is exempt from OSHA inspections for a period of three years, with the exception of a serious accident, fatality or employee complaint.
The OSHA-recognized SHARP award is given to employers who integrate safety and health practices into their business culture. To qualify, an employer must request a consultation that involves a complete hazard identification assessment; involve employees in the consultation process; correct hazards identified during a consultation; implement and maintain a safety and health management system that addresses OSHA’s 1989 Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines; reduce its Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) rate and Total Recordable Case (TCR) rate below national average; and agree to notify the state Consultation Project Office prior to making changes to working conditions or introducing new hazards into the workplace.
Florida Presbyterian Homes has worked with Mylene Kellerman’s USF SaftyFlorida Consultation Program since 2002. This is our fifth recognition of this award.
