Students from the Florida Southern School of Nursing have been on our campus since the 2008 fall semester working in a variety of settings and gaining valuable clinical experience in our skilled nursing facility (Porter-McGrath Health Center.) The management team at FPH established an annual Compassionate Care Award to recognize a graduate nurse for their efforts while on our campus. The award consists of a trophy and a monetary gift of $250.
- The criteria for this award is:
- Ability to enrich the lives of the elderly.
- Ability to serve the elderly with compassion.
- Ability to respect the dignity of all and recognize the individuality of each resident at Florida Presbyterian Homes.
The 2013 recipient is Ali Cahalan. She is a Lakelander! She graduated from Lakeland High School and hopes to find a nursing position and stay in Lakeland.
The senior nursing students were on campus April 23 enjoying a Tea in their honor with many of the retired nurses who live at Florida Presbyterian Homes.
